The objective of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and understanding of Gross Domestic Product, Inflation Rate, and Unemployment Rate, understand the monetary and the financial system, and analyze aggregate demand and aggregate supply framework.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the construction, interpretation, and limitation of three major macroeconomic indicators: Gross Domestic Product, Inflation Rate, and Unemployment Rate.
  • Distinguish behaviors of household, business, government, and foreign sectors in an open economy.
  • Explain factors affecting the demand for and the supply of money.
  • Explain the manner of determination of real interest rate and real foreign exchange rate.
  • Distinguish factors affecting aggregate demand, short-run aggregate supply, and long-run aggregate supply.
  • Apply aggregate demand and aggregate supply framework.
