The objective of this course is to provide the skills, knowledge and tools for understanding the gains and losses from international trade and to provide new insights to help students to understand the current debates on trade globalization.

Learning Outcomes

  • Define the concept of comparative advantage and explain its effects on trade patterns.
  • Describe the impact of international trade on economic outcomes.
  • Explain the methodology used by modern economic models to quantify the gains from trade and the effects of changes in trade costs.
  • Summarize the main insights obtained by international trade models.
