The objective of this course is to introduce the fundamental concepts and tools of statistics/data-analytics, provide the appropriate theoretical and practical skills necessary for collecting, analyzing and interpreting data for addressing a business problem in the real world.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate understanding of the process of literature review and formulating appropriate research questions.
  • Gather, analyze, interpret and synthesize data from various sources to make informed decisions and solve complex management problems.
  • Select and apply appropriate research methods and tools to the study of a managerial case/problem.

Lectures, in-class discussions and debates; in-class exercises and labs; team work; exercises which demonstrate the usage of statistical tools; in-class presentations; individual and group assignments/projects

Assessment methods and criteria
10% Individual Class Participation

20% Group Assignment – Case study on analyzing data (30% of this will contribute towards individual assessment via the Intra-Team evaluation score method*)

70% Individual Final Examination

*For the group assignment, individual score will be given to each team member based on performance and contribution
