Course Objectives
This course introduces the basic management process and the importance of effective leadership as it relates to maritime companies. The course also exposes students to the key people management functions pertaining to crew management. It also examines leading approaches in the recruitment and selection, training, and monitoring of performance of crew personnel. It explores the importance of team building and effective teamwork within the context of shipping and crew management.

- Identify best practices in the recruitment, selection, training and performance of crew personnel.
- Explain how management may use key performance indicators to monitor crew performance management.

Familiarization with the concepts and techniques for effective crew management including recruitment, selection, training and performance management with the use of KPIs.
