November 2024 was a dynamic and inspiring month at the University of Limassol (UoL), as the campus welcomed students from three local schools: Lyceum Apostolwn Petrou kai Pavlou, Pythagoras School, and Morfosis Private School.

During their visits, students had the opportunity to tour the UoL Limassol Campus, gaining firsthand insights into university life and its vibrant academic community. The visits included engaging sessions with UoL program directors and faculty members, who provided detailed overviews of the university’s diverse academic offerings.

The highlight of these visits was a series of interactive seminars, designed to provide students with a hands-on introduction to university-level learning.

  • Psychology Workshops: The Department of Psychology hosted two inspiring sessions:
    • “Empathy: Unlocking Stronger Relationships and Effective Communication” was led by Dr. Koulla Mikellidou, Acting Head of the Department of Psychology and Assistant Professor of Psychology & Quantitative Research Methods. This workshop explored the pivotal role of empathy in fostering stronger interpersonal and professional relationships, offering practical tools for effective communication.
    • “Learning to Put Yourself in Another’s Shoes: Practical Empathy Exercises” was delivered by Dr. Eva Pettemeridou, Director of the BSc in Psychology and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology. This session emphasized the value of compassion and understanding through interactive activities, equipping students with skills for navigating complex social interactions.
  • Economics Insights: Dr. Snezana Eminidou, Director of the BSc in Economics and Assistant Professor of Economics and Econometrics, conducted an insightful session introducing foundational economic principles and their significance in navigating a rapidly evolving global market.
  • Business Dynamics: Dr. Antonis Violaris, Director of the BBA and MSc in Shipping Operations and Management and Lecturer in Economics & Finance, guided students through key concepts in entrepreneurship, strategy, and innovation, showcasing the exciting possibilities in the business world.
  • Technology Insights and the World of Data: Dr. Christodoulos Efstathiades, Director of the BSc in Computing and Business Technologies and Assistant Professor of Computer Science, shared an inspiring speech on the transformative power of data and technology in the modern world. His speech highlighted the intersection of computing, business technologies, and innovation, equipping students with insights into the opportunities and challenges of a data-driven future.
