The University of Limassol (UoL) is delighted to announce its continued support for the “Limassol Photography Festival” (LPF), now in its second year. The 2024 edition of LPF, themed “Athlos,” focuses on the world of sports and aims to capture the Olympic Spirit.
The LPF kicked off with its opening ceremony on April 11, 2024, and will run until May 7, 2024. The festival is organized in collaboration with esteemed partners, including the French Embassy in Cyprus, the French Institute of Cyprus, the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus, and the Limassol Municipality.
2024 Highlights:
This year’s festival features seven parallel exhibitions, primarily held outdoors, that celebrate sports through the lens of 28 local and international photographers. These exhibitions provide unique insights into various global sports events and offer portraits of renowned athletes, bringing together the artistry of photography and the world of sports.
Certification and Recognition:
The LPF has been honoured with the distinction of being part of the Cultural Olympiad for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This prestigious recognition underscores the festival’s alignment with the spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic Games hosted in Paris in 2024.

Festival Goals:
The Limassol Photography Festival aspires to be recognized as a significant annual cultural event that greatly enhances the visibility and appreciation of photography. By showcasing compelling visual stories, LPF aims to promote photography as a vital medium of artistic expression both in Cyprus and internationally.
Through its partnership with LPF, the University of Limassol reinforces its commitment to supporting cultural and artistic endeavors that enrich the community and elevate the arts on a global stage. The festival invites everyone to explore the transformative power of sports photography and to celebrate the universal values encapsulated in the Olympic spirit.
