Interlibrary Loan ILL
The University of Limassol Library provides the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service to ensure access to academic and scholarly material when such material is not available in the library’s own collection.
The Interlibrary Loan service supports teaching, learning, and research by enabling Library members to make use of collections held by other academic libraries, within the framework of established inter-institutional collaborations. Through this service, users may request print material (such as books) or copies of journal articles, subject to the policies of the lending library.
Partner Universities
The University of Limassol Library collaborates with academic libraries in Cyprus, including:
- University of Cyprus
- Open University of Cyprus
- Cyprus University of Technology
- University of Nicosia
- European University Cyprus
- Frederick University
- Neapolis University Paphos
How the Interlibrary Loan service works
The use of the Interlibrary Loan service involves two distinct stages:
- Registration for Interlibrary Loan Cooperation
To activate access to the service, users are required to submit once the Interlibrary Loan Cooperation Form
This form concerns the user’s registration to the interlibrary loan cooperation scheme, the acceptance of the service terms, and the activation of eligibility to place interlibrary loan requests.
- Submission of an Interlibrary Loan Request
For each specific item requested from a partner library, a separate request form must be submitted, depending on the type of material:
- Interlibrary Loan – Book Request Form
- Interlibrary Loan – Journal Article Request Form
These forms are submitted each time new material is requested and apply exclusively to the specific book or article.
Before submitting any request, users are advised to consult the Library catalogue and available electronic resources to ensure that the material is not already accessible.
Delivery of material and terms of use
Processing time, loan period, renewal options, and any restrictions are determined by the lending library. Depending on the case, material may be delivered through the University of Limassol Library or made available for on-site consultation at the holding library.
Users are required to comply with the terms of the Interlibrary Loan service and return all borrowed material within the specified deadlines.
Workshops and Training
The library regularly organizes workshops and training sessions to develop users’ research and information literacy skills. Topics include:
- Effective use of databases
- Research strategies
- Bibliography and citation management
- Using tools like Mendeley for reference management
