Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide market participants with an in-depth knowledge of the structure and mechanics of the derivatives market/products, as well as the tools needed to price these instruments.
Learning Outcomes
CILO 1 – Acquire a thorough overview of the structure and mechanics of the derivatives markets
CILO 2 – Recognize the characteristics of derivative contracts, such as futures, forwards, options and swaps
CILO 3 – Recognize the various ways derivatives contracts can be employed
CILO 4 – Recognize how to value derivative contracts

1. Derivatives: introduction, definitions, and uses
2. Forward and futures contracts
3. Arbitrage free pricing of options. Single period binomial model
4. Black-Scholes-Merton option valuation model. Put-Call parity
5. Hedging of Positions in Derivatives. Option strategies
6. Interest rate derivatives
7. Credit risk derivatives. Monte Carlo Simulation. Exotic options.
8. Case study workshop
