The purpose of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field of personality psychology. This course aims to explore the various theoretical perspectives, research methodologies, and practical applications related to the study of individual differences in behavior, cognition, and emotion. By examining the complexities of human personality, the course seeks to enhance studentscritical thinking skills, research abilities, and their capacity to apply psychological principles to real-world contexts. 

Learning Outcomes

The following learning outcomes are expected, where students will:  

  1. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of major theoretical perspectives in personality psychology. 
  2. Explain the influence of biological, genetic, environmental, and cultural factors on personality development and expression. 
  3. Evaluate and critique research studies and methodologies commonly used in personality psychology. 
  4. Apply personality theories to explain and predict behavior in diverse contexts. 
  5. Demonstrate effective communication skills in presenting and discussing personality concepts and research findings. 

By examining the complexities of human personality, the course seeks to enhance students’ critical thinking skills, research abilities, and their capacity to apply psychological principles to real-world contexts.

Course Features

Teaching methodology: Lecture

Assessment:

  1. Midterm & Final Exam (30% & 30%): Mid-term and final exams will be conducted covering the entire course. Both exams will include multiple-choice, short-answer, and essay questions. 
  2. Group assignment (20%) to present in group format one of the following topics: specific personality theories, research studies, or applications. 
  3. Individual assignment (10%) to analyse a case study applying personality concepts to real-life scenarios. 
  4. Presence and Participation (10%): Students should be present and actively participate in in-class discussions.
