The objective of this course is to provide the skills, knowledge and tools for understanding the foreign exchange market, identifying the opportunities in the global financial markets, and managing the associated risks.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the organization and institutional details of foreign exchange and international money markets.
  • Explain and apply theories of exchange rates and open economy macroeconomics.
  • Explain the international monetary system and the balance of payments.
  • Provide examples of modern central bank practice of monetary and exchange rate policy implementation.
  • Apply relevant theories and models to the issue of optimal currency areas.
  • Recognize parity conditions in international finance and how they can be used to forecast exchange rates.
