He also stressed that “for an institution with a flag of excellence and international distinctions, the bar has been set very high: evolving into a University that makes a difference! The University of Limassol is not an ordinary University, neither in its philosophy, nor in its goals, nor in the perspective it creates for its students. We see things through a different lens. We believe that we can change the world, for the better. In a world that is constantly changing, and not always for the better, we believe we can make a difference, as long as we keep evolving. That’s why our motto is “ever evolving”.
The Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Dr Athena Michaelides, in her speech, noted that the establishment of the University of Limassol “will contribute to the promotion of scientific knowledge, academic and research excellence and intellectual development” and expressed her support for the University of Limassol, recognising that “it has the potential to evolve into a leading Higher Education institution, which will offer a wide range of academic programs and equal learning opportunities for all students. Based on the education provided by CIIM, the University of Limassol has the foundations to be included among the leading academic institutions in Cyprus, already offering innovative curricula in emerging fields such as green and digital management, business intelligence and data analytics and others.”
In addition, the Mayor of Limassol, Nicos Nicolaides, said that the presence of the University of Limassol “is fully in line with the characteristics and character of our city, which is the strongest industrial, business, financial and maritime centre in our country”, while stressing the value of cooperation and common goals and vision for the development of Limassol and academic progress.
