The EMPOWER project addresses gender disparities in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education. It promotes girls’ interest and participation in ICT studies and careers through two main interventions: gender diversity training for teachers and role model activities led by successful female ICT professionals.

UoL Project Team:

Annita Eliade is a Senior Project Officer at the University of Limassol, specializing in education, instructional design, and EU project management. She holds a BA in Early Childhood Education, an MA in Instructional Technology, and an MBA from the University of Cyprus. Over the past five years, she has collaborated with universities, research centers, and European organizations on initiatives funded by Erasmus+, AMIF, and CERV, focusing on pedagogy, children’s rights, gender equality, and adult education. Before entering project management, she spent six years in private education as a Head Teacher, integrating technology into early childhood learning. She also worked as a Research Executive in the market research sector, where she designed studies, analyzed data, and presented research outcomes. Her work centers on innovation in learning and professional development, with an emphasis on designing and implementing inclusive and sustainable educational initiatives.

maria karamanidou

Dr Maria Karamanidou is an Assistant Professor and Director of the MSc in Education, Leadership, and Management at the University of Limassol, specializing in educational leadership, gender, and school management. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of Nottingham, an MA in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Warwick, and a BA in Primary Education from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Before joining the University of Limassol, she was a Senior Lecturer and Programme Director at Middlesex University, London, and a Scientific Collaborator at European University Cyprus and UCLan Cyprus. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an active reviewer for the journals ISEA and EMAL.
