University of Limassol (UoL)
The University of Limassol is pleased to host Professor Franz Fuerst, Professor of Real Estate & Urban Economics at the University of Cambridge, for a distinguished lecture titled:
“Health, Performance and Value: Evidence at Scale for Real Estate and Urban Investment.”
The event will take place on Thursday, 30 April, from 18:30 to 20:00, at the University of Limassol’s Chaidariou Campus in Limassol.
Exploring the Link Between Health, Buildings and Investment
In this lecture, Professor Fuerst will explore the relationship between physical health, building performance and investment value in real estate. Drawing on large-scale empirical evidence, the presentation will examine how health-related characteristics of buildings and neighbourhoods are reflected in investment outcomes.
The discussion will include findings from research in US office markets, focusing on the role of healthy building certifications alongside external factors such as air quality, walkability and access to healthcare. The lecture will also extend to the relationship between housing conditions and human health, using data from major studies such as EPIC-Norfolk and the UK Biobank.
Overall, the session will raise important questions about how markets perceive and price health within the built environment, and what this means for investment strategy, policy and urban development.
