The objective of this course is to provide the skills, knowledge and tools for understanding the structure and performance of markets and the interaction between different players intervening in these markets such as firms, consumers and regulators or competition policy authorities.

Learning Outcomes

  • Analyze markets and evaluate the impact of firm practices and the antitrust intervention on competition.
  • Identify and explain the determinants of industry structure.
  • Model the behavior of monopolists in different circumstances.
  • Solve microeconomic theory problems as used in industrial organization.
  • Explain the determinants of strategic behavior in oligopolistic markets.
  • Evaluate the welfare implications of strategic behavior.
