The objective of this course is to provide students with the skills, knowledge and tools to perform financial and economic analysis of policies, programs, and projects and rank them in terms of efficiency and cost effectiveness and to study the effectiveness of government policies and government intervention.

Learning Outcomes

  • Determine when a CBA may be performed in a meaningful way.
  • Perform CBA under relevant modelling assumptions or approximations.
  • Identify the elements that may compromise the validity of the CBA.
  • Apply the tools of modern welfare economics.
  • Analyze government policies using the tools of modern welfare economics and cost-benefit analysis.
