Creating and implementing policies to address gender-based violence in academia

On 24 and 25 January 2024, the University of Limassol participated in the two-day seminar entitled “Creating and implementing policies to address gender-based violence in academia”, co-organized by the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality and the team of Yellow Window, based in Brussels, in the framework of the European project UniSAFE.

The aim of the Program was through applied knowledge the participants to develop skills to understand the concepts related to gender-based violence and its impact on the academic community as well as to utilize tools or create new ones that will bring visibility to the phenomenon of gender-based violence, in research and wider academia, to radically address it.

The Commissioner for Gender Equality, Josie Christodoulou, in her introductory speech, underlined the importance of systematic information to prevent and combat gender-based violence, stressing that universities play a crucial role in preventing the phenomenon.

UoL was represented by the Director of the UoL Center for DEI, Dr. Andri Hadjiandreou.
