Webinar Description
Every day, individuals, businesses, and governments make decisions that affect others and are influenced by the choices of those around them. Understanding how people think strategically is at the heart of economics and provides valuable insights into competition, cooperation, negotiation, and decision-making in both personal and professional life.
This webinar will introduce participants to the fascinating world of strategic thinking through key concepts from game theory and economics. Using intuitive examples and real-world applications, the session will explore how individuals and organizations make decisions in situations where outcomes depend not only on their own actions but also on the actions of others.
The webinar will feature Dr Efthymios Lykopoulos, who will present the main concepts of strategic thinking in economics, including cooperation, competition, coordination, and signaling, demonstrating how these ideas help explain behavior in markets, business, politics, and everyday life.
The second part of the webinar will be delivered by Dr Snezana Eminidou, Director of the BSc in Economics at the University of Limassol. Dr Eminidou will discuss the evolving nature of economics in the digital era and introduce the University’s innovative undergraduate programme to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the modern economy.
Dr. Lykopoulos is a Lecturer in Economics and Quantitative Methods at the University of Limassol. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cyprus. His work examines how incentives, information, and market structure shape individual and firm behavior. He teaches microeconomics, statistics, quantitative methods, and game theory across undergraduate and MBA programs.
Dr Eminidou holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cyprus and serves as Vice Chair of the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of Limassol.
