On October 17th and 18th, representatives from the University of Limassol (UoL) participated at the ERASMUS+ Days Events organised by the Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes (IDEP) in collaboration with the Municipalities of Kourion and Nicosia.
The ERASMUS+ Days is a Europe-wide celebration highlighting the value of multiculturalism, collaboration, and lifelong learning. Each year, the initiative brings stakeholders from different fields together to share achievements, exchange experiences, and promote the transformative impact of ERASMUS+ programmes.
The events brought together Higher Educational Institutions, schools, NGOs and other organisations to showcase their contributions to lifelong learning and their involvement in ERASMUS+ initiatives.
UoL proudly presented its ongoing work, sharing updates on the progress and outcomes of its ERASMUS+ co-funded initiatives like LIFT– Lesson Study In Future Teacher Education in Europe: Stimulating innovative learning and teaching practices among pre-service teachers, InnerWorlds– A Videogame Journey Through Teen Depression and Social Pressures, SustaiNet– Empowering Local Governance for Sustainable Economic Growth through a network of Green Business Innovation Hubs InterGenic– Supporting EU’s twin transitions through intergenerational learning, exchanges of knowledge and joint actions and others. Through these projects, the University continues to support inclusive education, innovative teaching methods, and capacity-building efforts that benefit both local and European communities.
A highlight of the events was the presentation of the national board game developed within the KidLe project, a product of a collaborative co-creation process involving children, parents, and educators. The game invites players to embark on a journey across a series of colourful islands. To move forward, players answer questions- covering five topics (Food, Travel, Nature, Emotions, and Language), complete small missions, and navigate different challenges designed to encourage intercultural awareness, communication, and creative thinking. The first player or team to reach the final island is the winner. Designed for use both in classrooms and at home, the game promotes interaction, cooperation, and storytelling, helping children relate their own experiences to new cultural environments while learning through play.
The KidLe– Developing an intercultural game as a pedagogic tool for the inclusion of pupils with migrant bacKground in new Learning environments project, aims to support the inclusion of children with a migrant background in new school environments and seeks to enhance the capacity of educators and parents to use games as a tool for children’s learning and development through the co-creation of five intercultural board games. All games are available and can be accessed for free in the digital platform developed by the project: https://kidle.monikom.com/en .
By taking an active role in this year’s ERASMUS+ Days, UoL demonstrates its willingness in driving educational innovation and supporting initiatives that equip learners and educators with the skills needed for an evolving and inclusive European society.
