Evi Itsa, Library & Information Services Manager at the University of Limassol (UoL), was selected to participate in Hackit!4EU, a European hackathon held on 27–28 May 2026 at the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol, Cyprus, as part of the Digital Heritage Summit 2026 and the Europeana Twin it! initiative.
During the two-day hackathon, Evi joined an international team of participants from Cyprus, Austria, Greece and Colombia to develop HerStories of Antiquity, an interactive digital heritage experience combining 3D digitalised monuments, cultural heritage assets and storytelling.
Drawing on Europeana’s digital resources and Twin it! 3D heritage models, the team explored innovative ways of interpreting and presenting cultural heritage through technology, with particular emphasis on education, research and accessibility.
The project aimed to make cultural heritage more accessible, engaging and inclusive for diverse audiences, including school students, adults, older people and persons with disabilities, through interactive digital experiences and storytelling approaches.
Participation in Hackit!4EU provided valuable opportunities for international networking, interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange with professionals, researchers and organisations active in the field of Digital Heritage.
