Social Sciences and Humanities School
Welcome from the Dean
Dear Students,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the School of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Limassol, a vibrant academic environment that brings together knowledge, research and human experience. Whether you are now taking your first steps in student life or continuing a path you have already set out on, I want you to know that you are entering a space of knowledge, dialogue and creativity, where scientific inquiry meets man and his values.
Our School, through the Departments of Law, Psychology and Educational Sciences, serves a common vision: the promotion of knowledge, justice, freedom of thought and respect for man and society. Our goal is to cultivate scientists with critical ability, ethics, empathy and responsibility — people who are not satisfied with acquiring knowledge, but seek to actively contribute to a more just and solidarity-based world.
Our commitment to you is to offer you an academic environment rich in opportunities for learning, research and personal development. The School’s modern Curriculum, combined with the experience and dedication of its exceptional academic staff, creates a dynamic framework for Education that meets the demands of today and prepares for the challenges of tomorrow.
Beyond knowledge, however, we seek to cultivate a climate of freedom, mutual respect and cooperation. Our School is a community – a living organism that develops through the participation of all: students, teachers and administrators. We encourage free expression, innovation, participation and collectivism, because we believe that through dialogue and collaboration the most creative ideas and the most meaningful learning experiences are born.
Equally important to us is the well-being of all members of the School. We want every student to feel like they belong to an academic family that supports, inspires and empowers them to reach their full potential.
As Dean, I am personally open to working with you and available to support you at every step of your student journey. My door — as well as that of my colleagues — is always open for ideas, concerns and initiatives that will enrich the life of the School.
I sincerely hope that your time at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities will be an experience of substantial knowledge, personal development and human connection — a period that you will remember with joy and pride.
I warmly welcome you again and wish you every success in your new path!
Professor Maria Sakelariou
