Successful completion of the LIFT Training at Maynooth University
We are pleased to share the successful completion of the LIFT (Lesson Study for Future Teachers) training, which took place at Maynooth University, Ireland, on 19–20 March 2026.
Hosted by our partner Maynooth University, this two-day training brought together teacher educators from across Europe with the aim of strengthening their capacity to implement the LIFT flipbook in initial teacher education. The training was organised within the framework of the LIFT project (Lesson Study in Future Teacher Education).
A Productive and Engaging Training Experience
The training, led by WP4 partners from Utrecht University (Netherlands), the University of Limassol (Cyprus), and University of Tartu (Estonia), was both highly productive and interactive. Participants were introduced to the LIFT flipbook and explored its practical application through a series of structured sessions, collaborative discussions, and hands-on activities.
A central component of the training was the use of the flipbook, which supported teacher educators in understanding and navigating the different phases of Lesson Study. Through interactive activities, participants exchanged experiences, shared perspectives, and reflected on how Lesson Study can be adapted to their own institutional contexts.
The sessions encouraged meaningful dialogue and collaboration, allowing participants to deepen their understanding of different Lesson Study variants and their role as facilitators in supporting pre-service teachers .
Preparing for the Pilot Implementation
The training marked an important milestone, as it successfully completed the preparation phase for the pilot implementation. Teacher educators engaged in reflective discussions on the implementation of Lesson Study in their own contexts, considering local needs and challenges.
Participants, using the LIFT flipbook as a guide, are now preparing to implement Lesson Study with pre-service teachers in the coming months, moving towards the piloting phase of the project.
